From: Andy Christian, Past President 2007-2009, Force Recon Association To: FRA Members Subj: FORCE RECON ASSOCIATION DONATION TO THE CAMP PENDLETON WOUNDED WARRIOR BATTALION Dear FRA Members, I wanted to share a good news story with all our FRA members. Over the last few weeks the FRA has been working on purchasing bicycles for the Wounded Warrior Battalion at Camp Pendleton . Currently there are 210 wounded Marines and Sailors assigned to the Wounded Warrior Battalion. Several of these Marines and Sailors are recovering from catastrophic injuries and face a long road to recovery. I had the opportunity to spend some time with the Marines assigned to the Wounded Warrior Battalion and they are top notch Marines that want to recover and return to the fight! The Marines recovering at this facility suffer from a variety of serious injuries. The Marines I spoke with find it difficult to run and exercise due to lower extremity injuries. The Marines told me that riding bicycles as a group has really made a difference for them mentally and physically. The Force Recon Association worked closely with Specialized Bikes and recently purchased $6,000 worth of bicycles for the Wounded Warrior Battalion. The bikes are high quality road bikes that retail for over $15,000. The bikes were drastically discounted so the FRA could purchase a large quantity of bikes for our Marines and Sailors. On Tuesday the FRA Executive Director Jim “Mac” Mckee attended a donation ceremony and presented the bikes to the Wounded Warrior Battalion at Camp Pendleton . Several active duty Marines and FRA members from Force Recon , I MEF attended the ceremony. I would like to personally thank the FRA Board of Directors and all our FRA members for getting involved and making a difference in the lives of our wounded Marines! Thank you for getting involved and taking care of our Marines! Semper Fidelis Andy Christian FRA Past President 2007-2009 |
