Entering Camp Pendleton for the Live Fire event! MARSOC Range - Live Fire MARSOC went above and beyond to host the FRA at the MARSOC range for live fire. We had separate areas setup for live firing the M-40 sniper rifle, the M-4 assualt rifle, and both the 9mm and .45 cal. pistols. There was a MARSOC Marine at every firing lane to instruct and assist us while shooting. Additional Marines were on hand, reloading magazines. We were allowed to shoot as often as we wanted. We did not have to pick up brass, re-load magazines or clean any weapons. I personally had a perma-grin the entire time I was at the range. Delta Company, 1st Recon Bn. (soon to be redesignated Force Recon Company, 1st Recon Bn.) was at the MARSOC range training in preparation for their next deployment. The M-4 range. About 20 lanes of M-4's in various configurations. With so many lanes, there was always one available; never a wait to shoot. There were 2 M-40 lanes. Though the line to shoot was the longest at the range, the wait was worth it.
Pistol Range. We had 4 lanes where we could shoot either the 9mm or .45 cal. at mostly steel targets as often as we wished.
At the MARSOC range, among other training, Marines practice kicking down doors. As a result, they go through a lot of doors and door hardware. After the shoot, we were taken to Camp Del Mar in the old MARDET 1 area for chow. Run, Walk Crawl Morning Cigar. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.
Scholarship Auction. Because of donations from members and our generous sponsors, the FRA Scholarship Auction broke an all-time record, with proceeds totalling over $12,000! See pictures of the Recon 2008 Banquet on Page 2 |
